Jen’s career as a competitive athlete began fifteen years ago, as the world of adventure racing reached its zenith. In spite of her strengths in many disciplines gain in adventure races, it was Jen’s skills a distance runner that earned the attention of Salomon Running, and ultimately, a spot on the company’s international running team. The opportunity took Jen around the globe, toeing the line at some of the world’s most challenging ultras amongst the world’s best runners.
Today, Jen coaches over fifty ultra-runners through her business “Challenge By Choice”. Many of her athletes are training with a particular race in mind. Some are new to running. Some are veterans. Jen runs an indoor spin studio, a project that she started in 2015. She continues to race and travel extensively, and when time permits, assists her husband Norm Han with his SUP expeditions. Jen, Norm and son Kiel, choose Squamish, British Columbia as their home.
One of Jen’s greatest strengths as a coach is her ability to find balance while working with people. Although she’s watching each of her athletes in the group, she’s also insures that things have “clicked” with the entire group. She can tell a story about one of her most incredible accomplishments while still sounding modest and approachable. Although preoccupied for the well being of her athletes, she never missing a moment for a laugh or a smile. Jen impeccable leadership and coaching abilities will be sought after for years to come.
